We Offer Thanks

From the Pastor’s Desk:

This coming Sunday is the Sunday before Thanksgiving!

We offer our thanks to God for all the blessings of life, including our wonderful church. This week many of you will be receiving a brochure in the mail called, “Living the Legacy” (LTL). The desire of LTL is to “Celebrate the Past, Serve the Present and to Sustain the Future” of our church! With this in mind, please take the time to carefully read the brochure.

The brochure shares our history in a wonderful way and outlines a number of positive steps for 2015. These steps include offering biblically based classes on financial freedom, providing boxed sets of weekly offering envelopes, and having some “First Fruits” meetings to share our church’s story with our members and friends. A special “First Fruits” brunch will be held on Sunday, January 11th between our morning services. Please save that date on your calendars! Additionally, you will be hearing plans for our “Alleluia Auction” to be held in the Spring of 2015, and a “Lasting Legacies” luncheon to be held next summer.

This week’s mailing also includes your Thanksgiving offering envelope. As we come to church next Sunday, November 23, let us reflect upon our many blessings and bring our Thanksgiving offerings to worship. “Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ‘ere the winter storms begin. God our Maker doth provide for our wants to be supplied; come to God’s own temple come, raise the song of harvest home.” (UMH # 694)

Grace and peace,

Dr. Fred Hembree
